90s editorials research

Today I have research several 90s editorials to gain inspiration for hair, makeup and locations. I already researched of how I want to present my dress and accessories but I'm struggling of were I want to shoot. In my previous research I looked at the background of the editorials but today I took a closer look.

I like the hair style of this image because of how her hair is pulled back and the curls fall together very smoothly.

I like the wing liner in this picture with the red lipstick. I know this make-up look would look great on my model.

I really like this pose. It makes me feel uncomfortable because you can see she is walking but the moved her body to the camera so you can see the dress well. It's outstanding and it attracts attention.

This picture has an old building in the background which makes me think about the past.

I like this pose of this image. It's natural and casual and you can see the accessories well. The background is blurred so the focus lays on the model.

This pose is great on this image because it isn't a pose you see normally but you can see the accessories well. I like the shadow and how they played with the light.

What I noticed is that many brands used a plain or blurred background. It was very clean and the focus lays on the model.  I already have 2 locations in mind it is a church and canals with a bridge. This is close from where I live and I think it will be a great location for my final image when I present the dress and accessories.

Hair: Looking at my model she has short blond hair.  I like the loose curls but I know it won't suit my model. I am going for a wet look. This way you will see the earrings better and I think it will look great in the whole picture.

Make-up: I am going to do a natural look with wing eyeliner and I will use a soft colour on the lips in the beginning. I will bring red lipstick so I can add changes in the picture to make it more sexy and change the appearance.

Presenting accessories: I am going to show the accessories on the model but I will make close-ups so you only see a part of the body with the accessory. I am going to use walls from the location above. First I wanted to use a white or beige background but I think it will match better together if I use walls from the background I am going to use in the last image with the dress and accessories.

  1. What links all of these examples is the slickness and sophistication of the locations, something that was very prevalent in 90's shoots. A combination of the church and bridge (where is this by the way?) would work well, would like to see more shots of specific areas that you are going to shoot in.
