Website research
This week we created our own website. Today I researched in various websites that fit my profile. I chose Harper's Bazaar, Trend Spotter and Gentlewoman. These websites connected best because they have trend research, fashion photography and written articles.
Firstly, I researched the website Harper's Bazaar.
Harper's Bazaar is an American monthly women's fashion magazine. It is first published based in New York City and considers itself to be the style resource for ''women who are the first to buy the best, from casual to couture. Haper's bazaar is known for their renowned beautiful visuals, award-winning art direction, intelligent writing, word-class photography and a consistently thoughtful understanding of fashion. The pages of this magazine are as authoritative as they are luxurious.
This websites has topics in fashion, beauty, culture and travel. I mainly researched under the heading fashion. I have researched what the website looks like, how the photos match with the text described. I also looked what you can find on the page. I could see they used topic such as halloween and how to wear mouth masks. I also saw that they had articles on luxury products, top 10 winter boots and 10 cozy jumpers to buy for this season. The website did not contain too much information and the layout looked calm. Everything was divided under headings which makes it easier to search.
The article of 10 luxe silk face masks they first show a picture of a woman with a face mask on, this clarify what they are talking about. Below the picture there is a short intro about the face mask. They explain that there are different types of face masks such as one from your favorite brand, organic cotton or with replaceable filters. They explain that your skin can be dry of irritated if you wear face masks. They also explain what kind of fabric silk is and what the advantages are of silk. This substantiates their article. After this they show a top 10 of different face masks, telling us where you can buy them and how expensive they are. This way is more attractive for the readers and therefore will buy this sooner
I also researched the Trend Spotter
I am going to base my photoshoot and editorial on the winter trends of 2020. On this website I have researched what the trends are today and how they describe this in an article. This pages contain men and women trends. These trends are much more extensive than Harper's Bazaar. They explained the trends of almost each clothing item. They tell a story to engage with the reader, based on a sales pitch. They show examples through photographs of how you can wear a particular item. After this you find websites where you can buy the items. They also have a heading about fashion news. Here I found the top international fashion news of the week.
The website consisted fashion trends, beauty, hairstyles, celebrity style, wedding, watches and tattoos for women. For men you had also men's fitness.
The article with 30 best online shopping site starts with a photo to clarify the text. There are 3 woman standing in front of a laptop with bags and a credit card in their hands. There is a short explanation that they want the reader's attention to tell about something that we almost all agree with. Staying home on a rainy day and go online shopping. After this they show 30 different websites where they tell you about what the website contains such as they tell you what styles you can buy, who founded it and how expensive it is.
Both articles respond to what is happening in the world now. Everyone is now shopping online more and masks are mandatory almost everywhere. I take this information with me when I make my own editorial for my final project.
