Further research & the direction of my project

This term I am going to shoot 4 advertising images inspired on accessories and based on the trends from the nineties. The accessories will be bought online.  I will also a create a dress as my 3D outcome. This dress will be inspired on Chanel's little black dress with a modern twist. In the advertising images I will show the accessories in a creative and fun way. In my last picture I will show the dress I made with the accessories so that it is a complete look.

How has my research, so far, informed my project?

In the beginning I watched different advertising images to see which direction I wanted to go.  After this I researched trends from the nineties and now to see which trends I wanted to use for my project.  I researched two stylists to see how they present accessories and how they made images look like back in the days.  After it was clear what I wanted to do with my advertising images I decided to focus on my 3D outcome. Because my dress is inspired on Chanel's little black dress I focused why this was famous, why it was black and what was her inspiration to create this dress. After this research I made 3 sketches from ideas I had in mind. My last research contains several editorials focused on lightning and the atmosphere of the images.

How useful has my research been?

Through my research I develop new ideas for my project.  I got a better idea of ​​which style I wanted and how I want to present my project. I know which trends and fabrics were famous and which one I want to use. I changed my mind to use colour images instead of black and white by looking at different editorials. I also considered what kind of background I want to use for my images. I found out that I liked it when accessories were presented in an unnatural way/ By making sketches and doing research in design I found out which silhouettes I want to use for my dress. I also noticed how I could make my dress more sustainable. 

What further research will I carry out to build on previous ..... ?

I will further research editorials but I will focus on the lay out, font size and style.  I will also watch tutorials of sewing and draping. I am going to a second hand shop and look at different fabrics, I will also do research in designers for fabrics. Furthermore, I will research several photographers. In addition, I will make test photoshoots from locations. As last I also have to make a colour palette for the images because the dress will be in black. 

How will the further research inform my work? 

This will be useful to develop how I will present my final work. Watching tutorials will help me how to use a sewing machine if I want to make my dress.  Fabric research will help me which fabric I want to use for my dress. Looking at different photographers will help me to consider which lightning I want to use.  Test photos will give me a clearer vision of how my images would look.
