Further development of my project

Today I have researched on the internet to look for accessories I want to use for my photoshoot. I have decided to order accessories on Shein. At first I wanted to order and return later, but because of the price tags and hygiene measures I decided to order it. Since I am a student on a budget, I therefore decided to order a Shein. Unfortunately this makes my project less sustainable because I now contribute fast fashion. That is why I try to keep my 3d outcome as sustainable as possible.

I have looked at jewelry that has a luxurious appearance so that it best suits my theme. I have chosen to chose black and white accessories because the nineties reminds me of black and white. Also I don't edit my pictures in black and white anymore, so that is why I have chosen  black and white accessories because the nineties reminds me of black and white

The colour palette for this is: Black, gold, white and beige.

I liked this necklace because because it is striking. I got my inspiration from a campaign poster from Chanel in the 90s. See picture below.

I have chosen this scarf because of the pattern. In the nineties lace was a famous fabric and even this is not the right fabric due to the pattern this does fit.

This is a set with earrings and a necklace from pearls.
I chose this set because of the earrings, but because the necklace is included, I have an extra option and I can maybe present something nice with this and in a creative way.

I have decided to order an extra scarf if that black one is disappointing so that I have a back up. I chose this scarf because of the leopard print because it is currently a trend and because of the warm colors.

I could chose between croco and glass lacquer. I have chosen croco print because this a trend from now so it has a modern twist.

I chose oval sunglasses because this was a trend from the Nineties. I choose black, so it matches the scarf.

I am happy with the accessories, I think they match great together and will be a nice addition to the dress. I used trends from the nineties with a modern twist.

Fabric silk

I went to different second-hand shops and markets to see if I could buy fabric here. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything anywhere. After this I looked online for second-hand fabrics, but unfortunately there was nothing here that I wanted to use. Also because I don't have much time left, I decided to order silk from an online site. I chose silk because silk can be an environmentally friendly product as a raw material for clothing. No fertilizers, agricultural pesticides or pesticides are required to produce silk. Relatively little energy is also required to process silk into fabrics. Unfortunately silk is too expensive and I had to buy polyester. This is less sustainable so I will focus that my dress is a non seasonal item. This is why I have to make my dress non-seasonal so that it becomes more sustainable. I will also make my project more sustainable by using accessories that you can use with multiple outfits, so people will be able to style an old outfit again and wear it longer.

I researched on internet how much fabric I need to have to make a dress and I found it on a dutch site because I didn't understand the sizes in english. For a straight dress without sleeves I need to have 1 x the length + 15 cm. My model is 1.74 so I ordered 2,5 meter so I have enough if something goes wrong. I ordered this on Budget stoffen.

Comments

  1. This is really good in terms of your focus and research, but I think you need to make it more clear as to why the 90's make you think of black and white. As I have said in an earlier comment, there was a lot more to it than that and I think you need to be more specific about what you are drawing inspiration from - make a direct link to a specific trend in a follow up post. There are also links to 2021 trends such as this: Simone Rocha: https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2021-ready-to-wear/simone-rocha
