The fantastic five

In today's lesson we looked at 3 themes that I can use for my art portfolio project.  For this project we need to have 4 2D outcomes and 1 3D outcome. See below the set brief with all the ideas.

The theme I am most interested is in Primitivism. I like the idea because I think I can go in many directions with this theme. Within fashion things often come back into fashion, which we used to wear a lot. I would like to base this theme on a time machine. Asking myself the question: What if I could go back in time, what would I have done differently with the knowledge of now. Or how can you reinvent something from the past with a modern twist

However, after receiving ideas from my teacher Sam, I also like the theme black.  designing a collection with different shades of black.

Ideas:

1.  Trends of the 60's and 70s mixing with trends of 2021 - High street

2.  Reinventing a famous piece from the past - Haute couture

3. Using emotion. The colour black stands for negative, fear, the unknown and evil.
Writing 4 short story's for a magazine about these words and creating a 3D piece of clothing that matches those story's - High street

4. Design a collection for accessories using different shapes of black - High street

5. Combine these two themes together.  Using different shapes of black and use something for the past and combining it with the present to create a piece of clothing. This can be colours, shape, fabrics or anything that was famous in that time - Haute couture

I still need to consider how I am going to use 4 2D outcomes and 1 3D outcome for my ideas.

  1. Number 5 has the greatest potential and scope within your subject area - by using historical elements it allows you to use a range of fabrics/styles and trends to create something genuinely unique here. Looking forward to follow up posts that develop the ideas you have had here.
