Research - Fairytales

My designs for my set project are inspired on a fairytale but with a modern twist. Therefore I have research several fairytales to look at the designs which shapes and forms they have used. The modern twist I want to use will be based on the trends van 2021 and make it more contemporary, so that the designs fit in with the times of the present.

Sleeping beauty 

Witch of sleeping beauty

I want to create a design inspired on a witch. Using the colour black and certain shapes like the picture above in purple under the arms.

Snow white and the seven dwarfs

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

I want to use this design above as a corset. The use of color such as blue and red, where you can see the contrast well, I think it would be nice to incorporate into my design. I also want to use the puff sleeves in my design because this is also one of the trends of 2021.

Cinderella 


I want to imitate the design of a princess dress in my design but not too exaggerated because my designs should be contemporary. That's why I want to use the shape of a pannier skirt as inspiration.
The stepsisters


In the story of cinderella, the stepsisters always want to belong, but they are not fashionable. They are also mean just like a witch and that is why I want to use the shapes that I also use with a witch, but slightly different.

Lady Tremaine


I want to inspire 1 design on the wicked stepmother. A business outfit with a touch of feminine to let her character shine through my design as much as possible.

The evil queen

Snow Queen


This netflix serie is about a cursed town in Maine where fairytale characters are trapped without a happy ending. They don't know who they really are and they try to find out. by looking closely at the clothing of the series I found out how she incorporated fairytale clothing with a touch of modernity. They have made the designs less exuberant. but they also left behind accessories such as crowns, gloves and glitter.

As the last step for my project, I am going to do further research in fabrics so that I have carefully thought about everything.
