Lecture: Odilon Redon

Today I had my first lecture about the artist Odilon Redon. For me this was very interesting because I often have some difficulty with artist research.  So this lesson was very useful because I could see what was discussed and what was important about this artist.

I did not know this artist yet but I thought it was very interesting to see that it took him a long time to make receive recognition. As he got older you saw that his paintings became more and more colorful. I thought the painting of Ophelia (1903) was very beautiful. How he applied the colors in his painting, but also thought it was painted very realistically.

I knew that many fashion designers took inspiration from artists and their paintings. that is why I thought it was interesting that he provided his inspiration from stories and poems of famous writers.

His work seems to illustrate a dream world populated by fairies, monsters, ghosts and other fantasy characters and I like that.

Painting my drawings is not always easy for me especially using colors. So after the lecture I looked up at paintings by Redon to see how he applies colors  in his paintings and how he does the overflow properly.
