Art portfolio: Project plan

In this post, I will go through my project plan for the term for my project. I will answer 10 questions we have received from our Teacher Zoe. 

1. Describe your major project objective using the Smart acronym.

The theme for my project is purple haze. I will design 4 designs back and front with a branding and marketing strategy. The designs will be made in traditional style with pencils and paper. My target market are for woman between 18-25 years old.  The style that I want to incorporate in my designs are: feminine, sexy and edgy style. The final outcome will be presented in Issuu or flipbook. 

2. Why have you chosen to do this project?

What I am going to do for my project is also part of my progression route. This allows me to see how to do this and I am more prepared. I've never done this before and this is how I'm developing new skills.  I found the theme that I have chosen very interesting because the color has a meaning. I have always found the meaning interesting and I think I can go in many directions with it.

I've always been a fan of fairytales because it doesn't have to be true and you can use your imagination. This also seems very nice for my designs

3. Who are you researching for this project?

Alexander Mcqueen, Christian Dior and the AW00 collection, Givenchy and the fall  collection 2018, Madeleine Vionnet, trends of 2021 and Anna Molinari. A book retail marketing and branding.  I will also look at artists so I can look at different drawing styles. (To be continued) 

4. What techniques/skills are you developing/learning for this project?

I will develop my drawing skills.  I've only recently been drawing and I can still learn a lot from this. I've never drawn clothes before so this will be a fun challenge. Drawing is part of my bachelor next year, so it's nice that I can already practice this now.

Also I will try to use new softwear to showcase my final project on my website. Last term I have used flipsnack and now I want to try issuu.

5. What do you expect the final outcome of the project to be?

The final outcome will be a collection of four designs with a branding and marketing strategy. I am not sure how I want to reach my target, maybe by a campaign poster or tiktok. I will think about this in the next weeks. 

6. What have you completed so far for this project?

I already did my initial research in fashion designers. I have now made a plan schedule and I will stick to this so that I get everything done on time.

7. What do you think will be the issues/drawbacks to the project?

Because this project is completely new, I don't know anything about it. Because I have never done this, it means that it will require a lot more attention and attention to produce a good outcome.

The main issues will be that I have to come up with a good marketing plan but also that I have to be clever with my designs when I do a photo shoot. Also my drawing skills must also be sufficient to produce a good outcome.

8. What is your timescale considering that this has to be completed by week 10?

Week three:

This week I want to do a lot of research to see how I want to create my designs and which colors. I also want to do more research in designers to see how I want to incorporate my purple haze theme into my designs

Week four:

Research in Branding and marketing strategy, Research in drawing styles.

Searching for templates for my designs.

Week five:

Testing the new softwear Issuu.  To begin sketcing and practice and developing my ideas. Adding more research in artists who are doing fashion illustrations.

Week six:

Continue to work on the pieces. finishing at least 2 designs.  Come up with a marketing plan for my designs + research.

Week seven:

Completing the designs. Consider how I want to present my work. Starting to develop my marketing plan. 

Week eight: 

If I want to do a photoshoot I am going to this in week eight. Editing the pictures. Finishing my marketing plan. 

Week nine:

This week I want to have everything finished and placed on my website. If I still receive feedback, I can easily adjust this.

9. What resources or materials will you need for this project?

Softwear, papers, pencils, paint, watercolor, colored pencils. Templates, Camera if necessary. 

10. Draw a picture/Write a sentence/sketch a story/ write a dialogue that captures the essence of your project.

Clothing  is a way to say who you are without heaving to speak.
