Tutorials and research make-up artist - Major project
For my photoshoot for the major project I will use golden leaves in my makeup. Because I did not know how you need to apply this to your face I watch several tutorials.
I already ordered the golden leaves at Hobbycraft so I can try to apply this on my face after the research to test if I like the end result.
On this tutorial I can see they use duo glue on the face, nek and shoulders. Then taking gold foil leaves, breaking it up and add this on the face. Although this tutorial was very useful, because I know how you can apply to golden leaves on your face. But for my photoshoot I will not use so many golden leaves because I wanted to keep it subtle and only apply a little on my face.
I came across another tutorial that I posted below. In this tutorial she only applies the golden leaves to the inside of her eye corner. I prefer this way to use because it remains subtle but still adds some extra to my make-up. I find the smokey eyes a bit too harsh and too dark because this way the focus will lay on the make-up instead of the clothes.
I wanted to use softer colors and I came across this tutorial below. She uses soft colors as eyeshadow. I have a similar palette in these colors I want to use. The shades of brown she uses will match nicely with the golden leaves but also with the neutral tones of my clothes. However I do not like the eyeliner this way because it is too striking. Therefore, I will make my eyeliner more subtle and I do not want to use false eyelashes.
By watching these tutorials I have a good idea of where I want to place the gold leafs on my face. I also know which eyeshadow colors I want to use in my make-up. I will apply the gold leaves with glue from the fake eyelashes to see if this will work. If not I will order glue online. With this information I will do a test to see if I like the end result so that I am well prepared for my photoshoot. I will post the end result on my blog.
I have also researched make-up artist Pat Mcgrath.
Pat McGrath (1970) born in Northampton is a British make-up artist and the creative design director of Procter & Gamble beauty. She is known for her unique, innovative, adventurous make- up techniques. She prefer to uses her hands instead of brushes. This is her ultimate trick behind each of her signature looks. Using her fingers to apply foundation will give a natural, translucent finish. She also uses her fingers to apply eyeshadow, this way it melts into the lids.
She became famous by going on a tour in Japan with Caron Wheeler from Soul 11 Soul. This opportunity led her working with i-D magazine's fashion director Edward Enningdul. A position which she hold to this day. Two mentors she looked up to w stylist Kim Bowen and her mother. This was her mothers and her escape from what was happing in her lives and in the world.
In 2015 she launched her own make-up line. This exists of Mothership eye palettes, Skin Fetish highlighter kits and LuxeTrance lipsticks. She puts a lot of compassion and integrity into her products. Back in the days it was difficult to find make up shades for her brown complexion, that is why her work drives hard to ensure that her line is inclusive.
Several days before a fashion show the make-up artists and hairstylists study the clothes and any briefs they can get about the designer's inspiration. Path McGrath then brings in an army of assistants, mostly 75 people who are specialized in foundation, eyeshadows, lashes, etc. She also comes with 85 trunks filled with reference books, sequins, red lipsticks and false eyelashes. After this they gather the models and start painting and smudging. After they are satisfied with the results the assistants take pictures and detailed notes.

Christian Dior spring/summer 2013
By looking at the make-up that Path McGrath does, it became clear to me that the make-up looks natural. I do not see any contour in their face, not too much blush on the cheeks and the eyebrows remain natural. In the last photo you see a bright color with diamonds but the rest of the face remains natural. I am used to that if you do a heavier look on the eyes, everything should be in proportion. But after seeing it this way, I think it is precisely by making it as natural as possible to express the eyes more. The foundation also look neutral. Everything is well thought out and yet is does not look like she has too much foundation on her face.
Because of this information, I will apply my foundation with my fingers for my test photoshoot. Also, I will not contour my face too much and I will leave the lips in a natural color so that my eyes will speak more.
I really like your idea but i would suggest adding something to your lips maybe a subtle nude to still keep the focus on the eyes but also keep the look proportional but overall i like it a lot.
Good work here - well explained and adds and informs your project work - well done
