Making my first website

For digital arts we have to create our own website. Yesterday in our online class teacher Ms. Zoe explained us how we could do this by using the progam wix,

First step is to make an account. I used my google account and choose the option to create your website with Editor. If you choose ADI you will have many problems later on.

After you set up an account you can choose a template of how you want your website to look like.

The theme is chose is inspired of fashion.

First you have to change it into your own name in the top. I clicked on edit text where you can change your name but also change the font. It is important that when you choose a font, you need to use this font on every page so it is all the same.

I typed in my name and I added art and design student so people will see what I am doing. The font I used is Open sans consended and the size in 25.

The menu on the left site on the screen needs to be changed. On the left side you have menus and pages. If you press on the three dots you can change the name or you can delete. I used the words home, portfolio, about and contact. When you press on design you can change the layout from your menu. I did not change because I already like it the way it was.

When you click on the picture you can change the background.

I changed the background in marble and I applied it to my other pages so everything looks the same. I also added a picture of my recent work. This is your homepage which people will see first so adding a picture of your own work will give a clear view what you do. After adding my picture, I clicked on animated to let my picture fade in.

In the left corner you can click preview, hereby you can see how your website would look like. You can also switch to mobile, and you will see your website on a phone screen. Sometimes it will look different on your phone so it is important you will check this.

At the bottom I changed the copyright in 2020 by Jolan Wojcik

After finishing your homepage, we have to edit our about and contact page. I added a strip in my about page.

I changed the colour and image by clicking on the screen and click on change column background. I added a picture of myself

I removed the picture behind my picture and made the strip smaller. I changed the colors it match more with my background.

At the contact page we had to remove our important details such as address, phone number and our e-mail address because we are not selling anything. I pressed on form settings and next on automations to set up an automated response.

It will lead you to another page where you wil receive a confirmation e-mail.

You can also change the layout of your contact menu left in the middel. You have to click on it and press on design. I also changed the text above the contact menu. I wrote down: Contact me, Jolan Wojcik Art & Design student.
